The event commenced with an engaging showcase of student clubs and extracurricular activities, followed by career guidance activities, including a "Find out your profession" express test for schoolchildren. During the opening ceremony, NSUEM Rector Pavel Novgorodov highlighted the advantages of the university, encompassing diverse study programs, developed infrastructure, location, and a wealth of extracurricular opportunities. He underscored the grant support system that benefitted 90 talented students in the last admissions cycle. Additionally, the launch of the collaborative program with MGIMO, "Legal support of international business in Asian markets," was announced.
Pavel Novgorodov emphasized the program's unique advantage, allowing students to earn dual qualifications—a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce. Recognising the growing demand for professionals in legal support of international business in Asian markets, he noted the program's importance in enhancing graduates' competitiveness.
The joint program entails six semesters in Novosibirsk and two in Moscow, and part of the curriculum will be taught by MGIMO lecturers, with a focus on Chinese and English classes.
NSUEM Vice-Rector for External Affairs Vladimir Romashin answered popular questions from applicants, emphasizing the life-long education:
- I believe that the main trend of a modern person is constant development and NSUEM corresponds to that. Even now, our students are involved in the programme of the Open Doors Day as volunteers, and tomorrow they will join classes to get new knowledge. The book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland clearly stated: “You must run as fast as you can, just to stay in place.” And we are waiting for such ambitious and purposeful students.
Daria Smolyakova, executive secretary of the admissions committee, head of the admissions department at NSUEM, also indicated what should prospective students pay attention to when applying:
- Enrollment by priority is an important feature of the 2023 admissions campaign, which will still be relevant now. Over the past two years, this topic has been actively discussed and will be upgraded. When entering university, applicants need to priorities their desirable fields of study, depending on where they want to study most. It has to be a well-considered approach and the order of the preferred majors should be carefully thought out in advance.
After the ceremonial part, representatives of faculties and departments presented their academic programs. In addition, there was a traditional parent meeting where guests of the event had an opportunity to ask questions. The participants of the meeting were particularly interested in the joint program with MGIMO as well as a traditionally popular topic – on-campus dormitory accommodation procedure.
